Plank reviews Mr. Boat-head! →
Stories, dreams, poems, and lies are captured and ground into pickled delicacies for his creative feast… There was a feeling of kinship as we sat around our electronic campfire. I was struck by how interesting tales of the mundane actually are.

MR. BOAT-HEAD’S ELECTRICAL DREAM SHIP
“It is not a question of knowing whether this interests you but rather of whether you yourself could become interesting under new conditions of cultural creation.”
—Guy Debord
September 8-17 | 8pm and 9pm | Tue - SatTriangle Square, Granville Island,1680 Johnston Street, Vancouver, BC V6H 3S2Show site: http://electricaldreamship.tumblr.comContact Kate Barbaria at 604-441-3293 or katelynbarbaria@gmail.com for all media inquiriesIN BRIEF: Mr. Boat-head’s technicians are building a dream ship to grind your dreams into the sausage of destiny! The electrical dream ship is an interactive, site-specific performance audio-recording dreams and nightmares from audience members to create an online dream archive for those with underdeveloped imaginations, in need of inspiration, or who simply never remember their dreams. Mr. Boat-head is a part of the Vancouver International Fringe Festival Onsite program. SHOW DESCRIPTION: Mr. Boat-head’s Electrical Dream Ship is not a play. Devised by the creative partnership Kate+Brendan, Mr. Boat-head is a situation, an event, a happening—a real process with a real product. Our hope is to create a publicly accessible database of dreams and nightmares collected during the Vancouver International Fringe Festival. The heart of each performance lies in the space between the audience’s lips and the microphone into which they share their dreams and nightmares. We explore the casual telling of stories, the unexpected depth of creativity revealed through dreaming, and the archiving of subconscious personal histories with an intimate audience of eight. Audience members are encouraged to dress for the weather, as the show will be outdoors, and to bring a dream or nightmare to contribute to the archive. Expect hot chocolate, warm blankets and delicious treats. ARTIST BIOS:Kate Barbaria has a BA in Art History with a minor in Medieval Studies from UBC.
